Recently there was an opportunity for cooperation between Highland Forwarding, USA and Fr. Meyer's Sohn (GmbH & Co.) KG, Germany.
The Task:
The shipment (non-hazadous chemicals) was prepared in Houston to load by seafreight in a 20 ft. Flexitank container but due to timecritical purposes it had to brought in the fastest way by airfreight to Germany.
The Solution:
Fr. Meyer's Sohn suggested to the consignee to refill the cargo in IBC's which could fit for airfreight. The possibility was checked immediately with the shipper of the cargo and soon after there was a positive feedback. It was calculated that the content of the Flexitank would fit in 22 IBC's with a grossweight of nearly 20 tons. Based on this information planning for airfreight could start.
After examining the various possibilities, it soon became clear that Highland Forwarding was the perfect partner to implement this logistical challenge.
The Result:
Within a short time which took place in the week after Easter the shipper refilled and prepared the shipment for loading for airfreight.
The 20 tons were loaded and flown ex Houston in 1 lot as planned and 48 hours later arrived in good condition at Frankfurt Airport.
A smooth customs clearence followed a delivery at 08.00 a.m. the next day at consignee warehouse in the North of Germany as to meet requirements of the client.
Through the professional and successful cooperation within the IFLN Group the Customer was very satisfied.
